Marsha M Oakes, 73, passed away in her home in Burns, WY on September 5, 2019. She was born June 1, 1946 in Sioux Falls, SD.
Marsha moved to Cheyenne from South Dakota and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1964. She married Steven B. Oakes on June 7, 1969.

Being available to help her family was always Marsha’s primary emphasis. She also held numerous employment positions with companies such as Artic Circle Restaurant and Mountain Bell.

Marsha has served as a volunteer for Holy Trinity and St. Mary’s Churches, the Girl Scouts, and the Senior Center in Burns.

Marsha is survived by her husband Steven B. Oakes; children Paul Oakes, Aaron (Tammy) Oakes, Joseph (Tammy) Oakes, Joshua (Heather) Oakes, Madonna (John) Oakes, and Daniel Oakes; siblings Stephen (Sherry, sister by heart) Green, Cecilia (Jerry, brother by heart) Ocheskey, Debbie (Dave, brother by heart) Welshans, Vance (Terri, sister by heart) Green, Vince (Susan, sister by heart) Green, and Jud (Kellie, little sis) Green; 21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marsha was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Madonna Green, and baby Dian Green.

Cremation will be conducted by Cheyenne Memorial Services and a Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Father Thomas Cronkleton will officiate. After the service. family and friends will gather at 8902 Ridge Road in Cheyenne, for a time of remembrance and sharing.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Davis Hospice, Right to Life, and Catholic Charities.
