Marlys Walk, 91, died December 7th in Cheyenne, WY. She was born on May 8, 1927 to William Curtis
and Gertrude Shaw in Big Lake, Minnesota. Marlys moved to Belle Fourche, SD in high school
and lived there for more than 60 years. After high school, Marlys worked at First National Bank
(Norwest/Wells Fargo) and stayed there for 35 years until she retired in 1986. After retirement,
Marlys worked as a secretary at South Park Elementary in Belle Fourche. Marlys married
Henry Walk in 1946 and had 2 sons, Scott and Richard. She was a long-time member of St.
James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche. Marlys enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and
socializing with family and friends. Grammy was loved by her 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry, and her
brother Sheldon Shaw. She is survived by her sons Scott (Patricia) Walk of Thornton, CO and
Rich (Becca) Walk of Puyallup, WA, brother Al Shaw of Belle Fourche, SD, all her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be
dearly missed by all. Services will take place this summer at National Cemetery in South
Dakota.
