Marilyn Woods, 82, of Cheyenne, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Davis Hospice Center.
She was born on January 11, 1932 in Cambridge, Nebraska and had lived here since 1958.
Mrs. Woods retired as an elementary school teacher from LCSD #1 after 19 years.
She was a charter member of Highlands United Presbyterian Church, Campfire Girl and Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader and den mother, enjoyed music and played in the Cheyenne Civic Band, whistled when she was younger on the radio as part of her high school radio club, and Astronomy and bird watching.
Mrs. Woods is survived by three sons, Bryan Woods (Beth) of Cheyenne, Russell Woods of Issaquah, Washington, and John Woods (Coleena) of Manhattan, Kansas; a daughter, Kathryn Collins (Jay) of Glendo, Wyoming; and eight grandchildren, Jemma and Tessa Woods, Jensen Woods, Decklan Ryan, Ryker and Caitlyn Woods, and Daniel and David Collins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Woods on December 21, 1991; her parents, James and Ada Staley; and a brother, Norris “Jerry” Staley.
Visitation will be Thursday, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..
Services are Friday, 2:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Pallbearers are Bryan Woods, Russell Woods, John Woods, and Jay Collins.
Interment in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Friends may contribute to Highlands United Presbyterian Church.
