Marilyn Casner

January 21, 1932 — May 16, 2019

Marilyn J (Woods) Casner, 87, of Cheyenne, passed quietly at Life Care Center of Cheyenne on May 16, 2019. She was born January 21, 1932, to Charles and Gladys Woods of Cheyenne.

She was self-employed for over 50 years as the organist at Grace Methodist Church, First Congregational Church and First Christian Church. She was also employed as the organist by Schrader Funeral Home and Wiederspahn-Radomsky. She played as the accompanist for the Rotary Club for over 30 years, and in her spare time, she taught piano lessons. She played the organ and piano for hundreds of weddings and funerals, joking that she was either marrying them or burying them. She is survived by her six children: Terry Ann (Steve) Gonsior, Kristina Hayes, Scott William Casner, Monte Charles (Pat) Casner, Jim (Janette) Casner, Jennifer Jo Casner; Ten grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Casner, her brothers Harry Woods and Dean Woods, son-in-law Terry Hayes, and great-grandson Joshua Rael.

Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church of Cheyenne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Marilyn Casner to the First Christian Church Music Department or the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
