Marilyn M. Andera, age 81, died peacefully on February 14, 2018, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s. Marilyn was born May 15, 1936 in Glenville, Nebraska, the daughter of Ted J. Kearney and Rose M. Schmidt.
Marilyn grew up in the small, rural community of Roseland, Nebraska and graduated from Glenville High School where she earned Valedictorian honors of her class.
In 1964 she married the love of her life Robert (Bob) P. Andera and moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where they lived out their lives and raised their four children. An extremely intelligent woman with great energy, Marilyn started in the steno pool for Mountain Bell Telephone Company and steadily climbed the ranks until she retired in 1998 as one of the highest ranking female employees in the state. An accomplished seamstress and crafter, she could make a quilt, clothing, or most any craft project she put her mind to. For her daughter Becky’s wedding, she made not only the bride’s dress by hand but all the dresses for the bridesmaids as well. After retirement she was heavily involved with Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was often in charge of luncheons, dinners and charity events. Always an adventurer, she and Bob traveled the US and Canada in their motor home, seeing new sites and visiting far away relatives.
She is preceded in death by her brother Jack, husband Bob, daughters Rebecca L. Wilson and Barbara A. Smith, and her son Kim R. Davis. Marilyn leaves behind a large and loving family including five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is survived by her son Kurt W. Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada, son in law James M. Wilson of Livingston, Montana and daughter in law Rebekah L. Davis of Portland, Oregon, sister June Goudy of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and brother Eldon Kearney of Blue Hill, Nebraska. She was truly the matriarch of the family and will be missed dearly.
