Marie Rusk

Marie Rusk, 94 passed from this life to her heavenly home on January 4, 2019 in Avondale, AZ
She was born November 24, 1924 in Cheyenne, WY
She was a 1942 graduate of Cheyenne High School
She married Alvin Rusk on July 11, 1943
Alvin served in World War II and was injured so he spent time recovering at the VA Hospital in Temple Texas. Marie was by his side during this time. She also worked at a prominent restaurant where she served “Red Skelton” and other actors and actresses of the 1940’s.
After Alvin recovered, they made their home in Ft Collins, CO. To their union 6 children were born.
Marie loved dolls and had many in her collection with Shirley Temple being her favorite.
She was an avid seamstress, she made suits for her sons and frilly dresses for her daughter and even mastered those little Barbie and Ken clothes.
She loved to crochet afghans and make quilts, also enjoyed making crafts and arranging flowers.
Marie loved to study the Bible and at age 70 she earned her degree in” Ministerial Theology” from Sweetwater Bible Collage in Glendale, AZ. A lifelong dream come true.
She is survived by her children Rod Rusk, Gary Rusk, Ted (Keitha) Rusk, Paul (Susan) Rusk, Gregg (Alex) Rusk and Elaine (Gregg) Beecher; 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews, a multitude of friends and spiritual children.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Rusk, her parents William and Dorothy Dyer and her siblings Albert (Ab) Dyer, Roberta DeGaiban and Harold Dyer.
As her brother Ab (Albert) so fondly called her “Sweet Pea” you will forever be in our hearts and so greatly missed.
Viewing will be 9:00am until 11:00am Monday at Weiderspahn- Radomsky Chapel.
Graveside Service will be 1:30pm Monday at Roselawn Cemetery in Ft Collins, CO
