Mariano Fonseca

July 26, 1926 — January 31, 2018

Mariano S. Fonseca, 91, passed away on January 31st in Cheyenne. He was born July 26, 1926 in Salamanca, Guanajuato Mexico to Ebaristo and Josefina Fonseca. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he returned to Mitchell, Nebraska where he met and married Mary Ann Dorador and shortly thereafter, moved to Cheyenne. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing baseball, fishing, hunting, and carpentry. He was an avid handyman and gardener. He had many creative talents, which were often displayed at his home. He was employed at the VA Hospital as the grounds supervisor until his retirement. He is survived by his five children, Sylvia Martinez (Billy), Martha Gonzales (Tony), Alicia Trujillo, Mariano Jr. (Norma) and Norma Cooper (David); his sister Mary Aragon, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Vigil for the deceased will he held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Tuesday evening February 6th at 6PM.
