Maria Naranjo Portz, 84, passed away at home on Sunday, October 12, 2014 in Cheyenne.
She was born in Guadalupita, New Mexico on March 11, 1930 and lived in Cheyenne since 1952.
Mrs. Portz was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. Worked as a waitress for many years and retired from Safeway after 10 years as a checker. She had a great sense of humor and was loved by everyone she met. She enjoyed trips to the casinos, traveling to see family and loved to listen to music and dance. Her family was the most treasured part of her life. We all will miss her dearly.
Mrs. Portz is survived by two sons, LeRoy (Jeanette) and Max (Bernadette) Espinoza, both of Cheyenne; five sisters, Margaret Barela, Lila (Marcos) Catanach, Rose Federer, Louise (Felix) Puente and Angie (Victor) Milatzo; one brother, Larry Naranjo; four grandchildren, LeRoy, Jr., Leon, Lonny, and Ciarra Espinoza; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Portz; daughter, Martha Fida; sons, Robert and Anthony Espinoza; parents, Nicodemas and Magdalena (Rivera) Naranjo.
Vigil for the Deceased will be Thursday, 6:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Funeral Liturgy will be Friday, 9:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Father August Koeune as the celebrant.
Pallbearers are LeRoy Espinoza Jr., Ryan Anastasiou, Lonny Espinoza, Teddy Anastasiou, Greg Catanach, and Tim Olivares.
Interment will be in Olivet Cemetery.
