Manuel Ben "Mel" Tafoya, 90, passed peacefully with his family nearby on June 2, 2019.
Mel loved life, his family, golfing, fly fishing, and hunting. He was an active member of the Airport Golf Course for many years and an active member of the CFD Grounds Committee.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and loved to talk about his time in the Navy and all the place he had seen.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and he will be greatly missed by all of us.
He is survived by his son, Dave (Cheryle); daughters, Lynda "Susie" Heller (John) and Barbara Tharp (Matt); grandchildren, Rick and Christopher Heller, Nic and Tarah Tafoya, Lucas Tafoya, and Ben Tharp; great grandsons, Orion and Gabriel Tafoya; sisters, Joy Pierson (Don), Maxine Spencer (Joe), and Bev Tafoya; brother, Jack Tafoya; and many nieces and nephews.
Mel was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sarra; daughter, Ruth Ellen; brothers, Ed, Chuck, Lee, and Al; and his sisters, Shirley, Marge, and Cora.
Visitation will be Friday, 9-7, at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Services will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with burial to follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
