Lois C. Lenton, 76, of Cheyenne, WY, passed away December 29, 2018 At Cheyenne Regional Medical Center surrounded by family. She was born September 13, 1942 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont to Maurice and Avis Cuthbertson. While her dad fought in Europe as a paratrooper, her family lived with her grandparents in Lyman, NH, then following WWII they moved to Vermont. Raised on a dairy farm as a barefoot tomboy, she delivered newspapers on horseback to the neighbors. She and her siblings attended a one room school house up to the 8th grade. Lois graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1960. In 1958, she met her future husband at a dance and were high school sweethearts ever since. Lois and John were married August 11, 1962 in St. Johnsbury. A mother and wife for the first year, Lois was involved in her children’s activities. Moving to Cheyenne, WY in 1975, she learned drywall finishing, working for Miller Stuart Drywall; then as a private contractor. Later she became a bartender at two Bar Bowl. Becoming a full-time Nana to three of her seven grandsons, she and John with other family members raised them to adulthood. Lois loved to travel with or without John. More than once she would pack the station wagon, load up her boys, and drive to New England, instructing John to send money. She and he had two wonderful cruises together, teaching her boys how to hunt and fish-along with John, which was enjoyable to both. Cheering for both the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos, Sunday’s were devoted to football. As illness started to slow her down, she returned to knitting. Lois and her best friend, Kay Moritz spent hours talking and knitting. Phone calls to her brother and sister brightened her day. She also loved horses, dogs, and foremost dairy cows. Lois is survived by her husband of 56 years-daughter Louise (Sean) of Kittridge, CO, Son, John Jr. (Glenda) of Cheyenne, grandsons; Nicholas, Steven, Brandon, Shane, Jacob, and John III, granddaughter; Morgan, and great-granddaughters; Minah and Aliza. Happy fishing, sweetheart.
