Linda Lee (Stafford) Swanson, age 82, of Greybull, WY, passed away October 11, at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 15, 1942, in Wichita KS to L.V. “Neal” and Geraldine “Jerry” (Mickey) Stafford. Linda spent her early life in Linch, WY. Her family later moved to Buffalo. She graduated with the class of 1960 from Johnson County High School and attended the University of Wyoming. She married James R. Moore of Midwest in December 1960. They made their home on the Moore Ranch on the Dry Fork of Powder River where they raised their four children. Linda was an amazing homemaker. Home cooked meals, baked goods, gardening, and canning were a part of everyday life. And when she wasn’t at home she could be found working outside on horseback with the rest of the crew. Her passion was horses. She spent a lifetime learning to understand, train, show snaffle bit horses, and ride, for as long as she was able. On July 10, 2003, she married Dr. Norman R. Swanson of Cheyenne, assisting him in his veterinary practice until his retirement. She was a CASA volunteer, a member of the Bishop’s Guild and parishioner at St. Mary’s Cathedral. She loved to play golf and pickleball and medaled in both sports in the Wyoming Senior Olympics. Norm and Linda continued to make their home in Cheyenne until the time of his death in 2022. She then moved to Shell, WY, where she easily made many new friends. Her last year was spent living on the Diamond Tail Ranch to be closer to family. She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Linda is proceeded in death by her parents, stepfather Bob Holt; brother, Mike Stafford; stepbrother, Jim Holt; son, Mark Moore; and grandson, Colby Ward. She is survived by her brother, Scott (Caryl) Stafford; daughters, Jamie (Tim) Flitner, Lisa (Tim) Ward and her son, Tom (Jacki) Moore; as well as seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, God children and countless friends. A Rosary Vigil for Linda will be held Thursday October 24 at 5 PM at Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes 1900 E 19th Street, Cheyenne WY; Her funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday October 25th at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cheyenne WY, with a reception to follow.Graveside services will be held at Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo, WY, in May of 2025. A rosary and celebration of Linda’s life will also be held at Sacred Heart Parish in Greybull; and the Shell Bar respectively. Memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s name to St. Joseph’s Children’s Home, Torrington WY; Sacred Heart Church in Greybull; or, Midway Golf Course, Basin WY.
