Linda Kay Reid

January 15, 1951 — August 8, 2022

Linda Kay Reid passed away at the age of 71 on August 8, 2022 surrounded by her family at her home in Cheyenne. She was born in Cheyenne on January 15, 1951, to Russell and Ruth Phelps of Cheyenne, and made this her home all her life. Linda graduated from Cheyenne Central High School in 1969. At the age of 17, Linda began her first and only job with the WYDOT in the project development department, where she designed many of the roads throughout the great state of Wyoming. Linda retired from the WYDOT in June of 2002 with 34 years of service. Her goals and desires for retirement were to spend as much time as possible with her grandchildren.
On May 23, 1989, she married the man of her dreams, Stu Reid, and they were married for more than 33 years. Together they enjoyed traveling, working on house projects, spending time with family, watching Jeopardy, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers and Colorado Rockies. Linda and Stu were inseparable over the years. Linda enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. When not spending time with her grandchildren or husband, you could find Linda woodworking, sewing, quilting, cross stitching and working on puzzles. She was a very intelligent, creative and innovative person with an admirable ability to think outside the box when it came to making things. Linda’s projects and creations can be found in many of her family’s and friend’s homes. One of her pieces can even be found in the Dubois Military Museum in Dubois, WY. Linda was her grandkids’ number one sports fan. She would attend as many of the kids’ sporting events as possible, or would want play- by- play text messages when not able to attend.
Linda was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister and aunt. She was a wonderful friend to many, and a devoted “dog mom” to her beloved dogs throughout her life. She will be very greatly missed.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Ruth Phelps of Cheyenne; her brother Kyle Phelps of Omaha NE; her niece Sarah Phelps of Dubois, WY and her nephew Chance Phelps of Dubois, WY.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Stu Reid of Cheyenne; sisters Joanne Piver and Jane Phelps of Cheyenne; brother John Phelps of Dubois, WY; four children: Becky Slames of Ft. Collins, CO; John (Mandy) Estes of Chester, VA; Mike (Stephanie) Reid of Loveland, CO; and Rhonda (Jimbo) Tanner of Cheyenne; 6 Grandchildren: Lindsay, Christian, Cassie, Kadie, Andrew, Maddie and 1 great grandchild, Genevieve.
