LeRoy Snow, 84, died June 15 in Cheyenne.
He was born July 27, 1932, in Ranchester and moved to Cheyenne at age four. He graduated from Cheyenne High in 1950. After attending the University of Northern Colorado he joined the U.S. Navy in 1952. He was stationed in Newport, R.I., where he met and married Joan Benevides in 1954.
Lee worked for the federal government for 37 years and retired as the chief procurement officer at F.E. Warren AFB. During this time, he was a Wyoming high school and Western Athletic Conference football and basketball referee. He officiated several Wyoming high school regional and state basketball tournaments, Shrine Bowls, the 1978 Liberty Bowl and the 1989 Cotton Bowl. LeRoy was inducted into the Wyoming Sports Official’s Association Hall of Fame and the Wyoming Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
LeRoy enjoyed cheering and jeering his favorite team, the Denver Broncos. Lee also enjoyed playing golf with his friends on the weekends; an ace on No. 14 at the Airport Golf course “kept him coming back.”
He was preceded in death by wife, Joan Snow; son in-law, John Leibin; and brother, James H. Snow.
Survivors include daughter, Shelli Leibin; son, Bill Snow (Stephanie); grandchildren, Cameron Leibin, Bryce Snow and Emma Snow; and loving companion of 18 years, Barbara Lambert.
