Leonard Clarence Bowman

October 18, 1957 — July 15, 2019

Leonard Bowman
1957 - 2019
Born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1957 to Helen and Eldon Bowman, Leonard grew up in Claremont, CA, Wooster, OH, and Flagstaff, AZ.
His favorite childhood memories were of summers in Glacier National Park where his father was a Seasonal Park Ranger. He often went on Grizzly patrol riding horseback with his Dad to make sure the hiking and camping visitors were safe in the back country of the Park .He also worked summer jobs on drilling rigs.

He graduated from Arizona State University in 1980, and had a career in business technology in Austin, TX.

In the years afterwards, he worked in a variety of occupations before coming to Cheyenne, WY. His love of dogs started when he was 9 with his first companion Osa, followed by Lancer, Booker T. Bone, Calypso, Terra, Monk, Elijah, Hunter, Cooper, and Cali. His concern for their health led him to research what nutritious pet food was made of: and Cheyenne Dog Food Company was created in 2014. The store was an extension of Leonard and his love for his faithful companions throughout his adult life. He learned the dog food business and taught others how to “love dogs your dogs (and cats) inside and out”. He was very thankful for his staff who worked so hard to understand his vision for Cheyenne's pet loving community. They became a great team that filled in the gaps during the years he was fighting cancer with extended medical breaks and medication side effects. CDFC would not be what it is today without their dedication and knowledge.(You know who you are…THANK YOU!!)

He will be sorely missed by his mother, Helen Schwichtenberg, Cheyenne, WY; sisters Lydia Martin (Peter), Richmond, VA, Sharon Cockrell (Dwight), Omaha, NE and Suzanne Schwichtenberg (Adreinne Verlanic), Helena, MT; and 14 nieces and nephews.

Leonard was a born-again Christian and has been called Home by his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. If you desire to honor Leonard he suggested you make a donation to Black Dog Rescue. bdar.org
