Larry Wayne Morris, 68, formerly of Moore, Oklahoma, died on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at the Cheyenne, Wyoming Veteran’s Administration Hospital.
He was born July 20, 1947 in Ada, Oklahoma.
Larry graduated from Natrona County High School in 1965 and enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 20, 1966. He served during the Vietnam War doing two tours in Dongha, Vietnam Northern Province. Larry received two Purple Hearts with the Oak Leaf Cluster, and two Bronze Stars, one for valor and one for meritorious service. He was very proud of his service and was stationed at Ft. Davis, Ft. Bliss, Ft. Carson, Ft Knox, and in Germany, discharging as a Staff Sergeant.
Larry was a professional truck driver for 25 years for MBM Corporation before retiring in 2009. He loved sports, two stepping in the honkytonks, playing poker under the poker name of “Coffee Maker”, and flirting with the pretty girls – right to the very end. Larry had many years of companionship with his dog “Daisy.”
He is survived by three daughters, Christina “Tina” Hunter (Joseph) of Cheyenne, Victoria M. Robin of Moore, Oklahoma, and Kathryn M. Kennedy of Corbin, Kentucky; a brother, Kenny Morris of Mustang, Oklahoma; a sister, Cheryl Parks (Mike) of Minco, Oklahoma; his uncle, Marvin Barnes of Ada; his cousin, Almeda Harrel of Ada; 13 grandchildren; several nephews and nieces, and one great-granddaughter.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Newman “Nuz” and Mildred “Christine” Morris.
Services will be Monday, 2:00 p.m., at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming, and anyone who wishes to share remembrances will have the opportunity at that time.
A reception will follow at 3080 E. 18th Street in Casper following the services.
