7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
This is a perfect verse for our Ruby. Throughout her life Ruby was always battling. From the moment she was born and fighting for her life in the hospital, to finding a way to survive a Ukrainian orphanage. She was dismissed as dumb and mentally retarded, forced to exist as someone considered unworthy in society. Ruby shattered those thoughts. After her adoption at the age of five, she learned to read, write cursive and memorize multiplication tables. She mastered running, skipping, and many other activities children her age accomplish. We would marvel at how much she overcame in her life to finish where she did. She is truly the strongest person we know. The morning of April 22nd her 9 year old body was finished fighting and she entered His courts with praise, skipping all the way. Her mommy and daddy were with her to say “pakka pakka” -Goodbye. God made sure she did not die an orphan alone and unwanted in Ukraine. She was surrounded by love and prayers and many who loved her so amazingly.
Ruby was a precious part of our family. She was loved by her sisters, Paige and Brynley and her brothers, Liam and Elliot. She had loving aunts, uncles, grandparents, dance, homeschool and taekwondo friends, her therapy family and all her Bingo friends at Aspen Winds. Ruby was an important piece of fabric woven through the tapestry that is our family. Without her, it will be incomplete while we are here on earth. We will fondly remember all the time we had with our daughter and anticipate the day we are reunited. We are so blessed that God chose us to be Ruby’s mommy and daddy. Despite our grief, we also celebrate with Ruby becoming whole again. She was a believer and we are confident she is celebrating with her savior this morning. Unable to move or speak for the past month, we are sure she is singing, dancing and eating grilled cheese sandwiches (with apple juice of course).
Rest warrior princess. We love you!
