Kenneth Wade Fogo, 64, died on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Cheyenne, WY.
He was born on June 3, 1951 in Red Cloud, Nebraska.
Ken graduated from Esbon Senior High School in Esbon, Kansas in 1969 and participated in football, track, and basketball. He then attended Barton County Junior College on a track scholarship.
He served in the U.S. Army as a senior military policeman and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for service in Korea.
Ken was employed in several different industries including Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, E&E Home Improvements in Belleville, Kansas, and Mumma Feed Yard in Dighton, Kansas. In 1977, he eventually began employment in the apprentice lineman program at Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative in Dighton, and in 1981 became a journeyman lineman. He then started as a journeyman lineman for Gunnison County Electric in Crested Butte, Colorado in June of 1986. He continued work for Gunnison County Electric as a Line Foreman in Gunnison until retiring in May of 2010. During his time at GCEA he was an Instructor at Mesa Hot Line School, he enjoyed working in the outdoors and considered everyone at GECA family.
He was a member of the Gunnison Elks Lodge 1623 and the Elks “Hoop Shoot” Director, V.F.W., and the American Legion. Ken enjoyed hiking, camping, mountain biking, softball, cross country skiing, spending time with his family and friends, and was known for his easy going nature and sense of humor.
Ken is survived by three dauthers, Stacie Folchert (Jay) of Casper, Wyoming; Bridgett Garcia (Chon) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and Erin Fogo of Gunnison, Colorado; his mother, Betty Fogo of Topeka, Kansas; four brothers, Jim Fogo of Floyd, Virginia, Brad Fogo (Pam) of Shawnee, Kansas, Dan Fogo (Susan) of Lakewood, Colorado, and David Fogo of Beloit, Kansas; three sisters, Vicki Corbett (Brad) of Osborne, Kansas, Judy Melton (Steve) and Janet Noah (Mark) both of Beloit.; and four grandchildren, Preston and Elliana Folchert, and Josiah and Bristol Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Fogo; and a granddaughter, Faith Garcia.
Celebration of His Life will be Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at I Bar Ranch. All are welcome.
