Keith Wayne Lemons, 79, of Lusk, Wyoming, passed away September 22nd, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Keith was born on January 14th, 1945, in Chadron, Nebraska. He was the youngest of three boys born to Tommy C. Lemons and Mary M Lemons (Kammerer). They were raised in Crawford, Nebraska.
Throughout Keith's youth, he enjoyed fishing and was an exceptional athlete. He excelled in basketball, football, and track. After graduating from Crawford High School in 1963, Keith went on to attend Chadron State College where he played basketball. In 1966, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country with honor until 1972. On November 24th, 1972, he married Evelyn Carland (Eberspecher) and they started their family in Lusk, Wyoming. Together they had one daughter, Katie Weber (Lemons), and Keith gained three stepchildren that he was proud to raise as his own.
In 1973 he earned his bachelor's degree from Chadron State College. Keith later married Sam Proctor from Lusk, Wyoming on September 4, 1989.
Throughout Keith’s life, he wore many hats, working in the oil fields, becoming a
greenskeeper, a bar and restaurant owner, an amazing cook and had an envious
green thumb. Some of his proudest achievements include rebuilding the golf course in
Crawford, Nebraska where many have enjoyed their rounds of 9 as well as
being an avid member of the Lusk Elks Lodge and American Legion. Keith was
beloved and well-known within the Lusk community and will be sadly missed as a
one-of-a-kind character.
He is survived by daughter Katie Weber (Lemons); son-in-law William Weber;
stepdaughter Peggy Crase (Johnson); stepsons Scott Johnson and Mike Johnson;
granddaughters Chelsea Kettler (Crampton), and Sydne Happold (Weber);
grandson Tommy Weber; great-grandsons Cashton Kettler, William Hayes Weber,
and Camden Weber; great-granddaughter Murphy Happold; brothers Larry Dean Lemons,
Jim G. Lemons; sister-in-law Anita Raben Lemons; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Keith is joined in Heaven by his sister-in-law Lavona Lemons (Smith) and his loving parents.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Elks Lodge in Lusk, WY.
