Julio David Martinez, 87, of Cheyenne, passed away April 1 with family at his bedside at the Cheyenne Life Care Center.
He was born December 20, 1928 in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico to Juliana Luna and Loren Pacheco.
Julio lived most of his life in Cheyenne.
Julio served in the United States Army Air Corps honorably.
Julio and Dora were married 59 years. They had seven children. She passed May 2010, that is when Pepe, his Chihuahua, entered into his life to be his partner till his passing. Pepe will miss him greatly.
Julio worked on the missile sites and for the Federal Civil Service.
At an early age, Julio discovered he had a voice for singing. He loved to play his guitar and sing and looked forward to Saturday nights singing and dancing at the Pavilion.
Julio was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post 6.
He enjoyed his retirement and collecting guns and coins and watching boxing.
Julio is survived by five children, Barbara Moore, John Martinez, Julia Cox, Anthony “Tony” Martinez, and Bonnie (Adolph) Narvais; very special niece, Anna Baca; sister, Bonnie Martinez; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and his Chihuahua, Pepe.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Mike Martinez; daughter, Judy Spoklie; sister and a step-brother.
Vigil for the Deceased, 6:00 p.m., Thursday, Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Funeral Liturgy, 10:30 a.m., Friday, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be April Moore, Jason Martinez, Jimmy Lee Spencer, Tinisha Spencer, Tina Marie Spoklie, Jesse James Spoklie, Eric Martinez, Jeannie Ann Narvais-McMullen, Anthony Martinez, Brian Martinez, Anthony Narvais, Joseph Chavez, Candace Chavez, Chelsea Chavez and Brittany Chavez.
