Juanita Lucero, 86, lifelong Cheyenne resident, made her journey to the other side, Monday, October 31, 2016 at Life Care Center.
She was born April 7, 1930 in Cheyenne, a daughter of Tony “Red Bird” and Geraldine (Gonzales) Tafoya. Juanita was very involved with St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and served in the Church choir. She also volunteered with “Meals On Wheels”, was a Foster Grandparent, enjoyed crocheting, bingo and antiquing, and spent many hours gathering food and clothing for people less fortunate.
Survivors include two sons, Raynaldo (Veronica) Quintana of Denver; Stephen (Linda) Quintana of Greeley; four daughters, Teresa (Robert) Martinez of Cheyenne; Catherine (Chuck) Williamson of Colorado Springs; Alice Curry of Cheyenne; Veronica Lucero of Cheyenne; and adopted daughter, Betty Jo Young of Cheyenne; eight grandchildren, Raynaldo Quintana Jr., Jason Quintana, Matthew Martinez, Amada and Isaac Williamson, Michael Curry and Ariana Gonzalez; a sister, Mary Louise Thompson of California and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe “Andy” Lucero; parents; a brother, Anthony Tafoya; a sister, Lena Green and a grandson Stephen Quintana Jr.
Vigil of the Deceased will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be Friday November 4, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
