Joyce Hanks, 94, of Cheyenne, died on Monday, May 21, 2018 in Cheyenne.
She was born on June 30, 1923 in Stevensville, Montana.
Joyce served during WWII in the U.S. Army as a registered nurse. She was on the first ship that docked in Tokyo before the treaty was signed. Joyce loved to play the piano, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, embroidering, sewing, and made most of her clothing. She enjoyed walking and riding her bike.
She is survived by two children, Teri Fifeld and Roland Hanks (Shelley), both of Lander; two brothers, Eldon Whitesitt of New Port, Oregon and Dave Whitesitt of Corvallis, Montana; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, R.B. Hanks; a son, Greg Hanks; three brothers, Lee, Lloyd, and Bob; and her parents, John Earl and Emily Whitesitt.
Cremation has taken place.
