Joseph J. Vogler, 82, of Cheyenne passed away April 16, 2018 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Joe was born to George and Lillian (Carter) Vogler in Dalton, Nebraska, August 4, 1935. He attended Lisco Grade School, graduated in 1953 from Garden County High School, Oshkosh, Nebraska, and played two years of football at Scottsbluff Junior College. He served two years in the Army Air Defense Artillery before receiving his Bachelors of Biology Degree from Chadron State College. He married Marlys Lesniak on January 21, 1961. During his nine years teaching biology at North Platte High School, he and Marlys had three children.
Joe returned to Chadron State College receiving a Masters of Biology. He then worked 25 years at Wyoming Game and Fish Department in Cheyenne, Wyoming, as Conservation Educator, State Hunter Safety Coordinator, and was a founding member of the Council for Environmental Education, before retiring in 1995.
Joe is survived by his wife Marlys; son Karl (wife Lorie and daughters Heather, Ashley, and Kayce), daughter Laurie Vogler-Haller (son Rodney Haller), and daughter Terri Looney (husband Jim and children Shannon, Christopher, Patrick, and Sean). He is survived by four brothers: Donald, Robert, William, and Ronald. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marjorie, infant sister Mary Ann, brother Carter Vogler, son-in-law Robert Haller, and infant grandson Lars Haller.
The Vigil Rosary will take place at 4pm Sunday, at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Monday at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Cheyenne. Burial will be at the Lisco Memorial Cemetery, Lisco, Nebraska at 3:30pm. Receptions will follow both funeral mass and burial.
