Joseph Oliver Edmunds, Sr., 94, of Cheyenne, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital.
He was born on September 24, 1919 in Yankee Hill, California to C.B. and Mary (Hammond) Edmunds. He grew up in Burns, Wyoming and graduated from Burns High School in 1938.
Mr. Edmunds served in the 5th U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was assigned to the 43rd Bomb Group in the Pacific as an aerial photographer.
After the war he returned to the Cheyenne area and married Maxine Ward in September 1947.
He was a longtime employee of Pioneer Printing as a journeyman pressman.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; seven brothers; one sister; and one grandson.
He is survived by a sister, Edythe Hagen of Globe, Arizona; sons, Donn Edmunds (Mary) and Joseph Edmunds, Jr., both of Cheyenne; daughters, Kathryn Albee (Michael) of Coolidge, Arizona, Barbara Edmunds of Cheyenne, and Rita Teasley (Matt) of Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and per his request there will be no services. A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
