Jon Frank Jacquot passed away peacefully on March 16th, 2023, at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne.
Jon was born, the third of four sons, on April 27th, 1946, in Casper, WY, to Francis Webster Jacquot and Katherine Mable Frisby. He lived most of his childhood in Casper although the family lived for a short time in Caldwell, ID. The family returned to Casper and constructed their home on Hyview, and it truly was a family affair with all four sons contributing in some way no matter their age. Jon attended school in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1964, where he was active in Army JROTC. He went on to the University of Wyoming where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.
It was while attending the University of Wyoming that he met Cynthia “Cindy” Edith Huffman. Jon and Cindy were married in December 1972, in Cheyenne. To this union, two children were born, Stephanie Ann and Benjamin Daniel. They were married for 29 years until her death in 2001. Jon always referred to Cindy as the “love of his life”. They spent their years together raising children, entertaining friends and traveling to yearly Engineer conferences to exotic locations such as Des Moines, IA, Hot Springs, AR, and Kalispel, MT. There were also yearly trips traveling the state of Wyoming, including one following the path of the Oregon trail.
Jon spent his time on home improvement projects (although not always seeing them completed), coaching his children’s soccer teams when they were young, helping with homework, attending swim meets, and helping with Boy Scouts. He made it a point to attend as many of his children’s events as he could. He continued this with his grandchildren attending concerts, ball games, and other activities when he was able.
Jon also was an Amateur Radio Operator obtaining his General License. He loved communicating with his radios and had some old pieces of equipment that he was very proud of. He was a lifelong member of the American Radio Relay League, and an active member of the Shy-WY radio club. He was also a collector of many guns, especially WWII era weapons.
He was also a Naval History buff, learning as much as he could on the subject, even taking a trip to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton when he traveled to Washington to meet his granddaughter Kaitlyn Taylor Castle in 2002.
Jon worked for the State of Wyoming for 34 years and nine months, retiring from the Public Service Commission in 2005. He started his career with the State of Wyoming working at the fish hatcheries during the summers while in high school. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with the State of Wyoming and was a trusted engineer, even doing some consulting work after his retirement and gaining a friend in Dave Piroutek.
Jon is survived by his children, Stephanie (Cory) Castle, Ben (Tina) of Cheyenne; brothers, Raymond (Janice) of Laramie, Neal, and Fred (Judy) of Casper; grandchildren, Kaitlin Castle, Shelby (Jordan) Bandel, Matthew and Christopher Jacquot; and great grandson, Finneas Bandel. He is also survived by lifelong friends, John Nunley, Dave Kaufman, Bob Rule and John Schmechel. He was preceded in death by his parents, and the love of his life, Cindy.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, staff and volunteers of CRMC Home Hospice and Davis Hospice Center. Your care of our father at the end of his life was so compassionate and words could never express how much we appreciate each and every one of you.
