Johnny Ray White, 50, of Cheyenne left us on January 8th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
John was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 11, 1972 to Tommy and Faye White. He grew up the baby of the family with his older brother David and sister Sheila. He was a social and athletic teen who played football, baseball, wrestled and did track.
John was a man of strength both physically and mentally. He was outgoing and active. He loved to fish and work in his yard. He was always available to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a loving husband to Lori and a wonderful father and father-in-law to his daughter Karlei and her husband Darren. He recently had become a grandfather to Maggie, who he absolutely adored. He had many nieces and nephews who he loved like a father. He also loved his dogs Bella and Sadie, like his additional children. He was active in the Cheyenne community volunteering at Cheyenne Frontier Days and coaching Karlei’s softball team for many years. One of his favorite things to do was sit on his front porch in warm weather with his family, friends and dogs.
He joined the Air Force in 1992 and was stationed in various locations around the world such as Germany and Turkey, before receiving orders to Cheyenne, Wyoming where he met the love of his life Lori. After 22 years of service he retired from the military and went to work for several local Cheyenne and North Dakota businesses.
In January of 2014, John was involved in an automobile accident that paralyzed him from the chest down. After many months of hard work and recovery he returned to his new life in Cheyenne. This accident, while changing his life completely, didn’t slow him down. He discovered new passions, new hobbies, as well as new friends (human and canine) at Electric Sabbath Tattoo where he spent numerous hours.
John was a fighter in all that he endured. He loved deeply and was generous with his time. His time with us was cut far too short and he will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Tommy, and Faye White, cousin Little Ronnie Lovitt and niece Brittany Payne.
We welcome family and friends to attend his memorial service with military honors. It will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17th at Cheyenne National Cemetery with a celebration of life to follow at 2121 E Riding Club Road Cheyenne, Wyoming 82009.
