John William Roope

John William Roope, 81, of Cheyenne, died on October 15, 2023 in Cheyenne.
He was born on August 28, 1942 in Dublin, Virginia.
John was in the US Navy on the SS Kitty Hawk. He was also a long haul truck driver with Roadway and stood firmly behind his Teamsters title. He loved playing Keno and working on his 1954 Chevy "Sponge Bob." He loved being able to be down at The Moose Lodge or American Legion, he always said that they meant a lot to him as a VET. His most cherished hobbie was getting to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His grandsons and great great grandsons were one of the biggest joys in his life ,but he would always tell you how much he loved his girls. They were the apple of his eye.
He is survived by his loving wife ,Peggy Jo Roope; his children, Gene McDowell (Ronette) , Jesstine McDowell , Bobby McDowell (Candi) , John Roope (Robyn) , Pam Bawden (Luke), and Tim Roope (Andrea); his siblings, Reatha Duncan, Charles Roope, Myrna Holland and Linda Sheilds-Roope;hHis grandchildren, Kristy Romero (Anthony), Jessica Garrison(Alan) Brittany McDowell, Trisha Young (Jordon), Kelly Myers, Jeremiah Myers, Kelton Hanely, Davin Hanley(Laura), Lucia Roope, Jaxson Roope, Bobby McDowell and his Great grandchildren, Gabriel ,Lorenzo,Latycia, Avery, Hailey, Zoey, Evan, Lilly-Ann, Addelynn, Stella, Brayden,Kadence, and Ace.
John was preceded in death by his parents Eliza Jane and Willie Roope. His siblings Anna Jane and Jerry Roope. His grandson Daniel Holder and great grandson Vincent Jimenez.
