John R. Randall died Tuesday December 22nd. He was born May 13 1938 in Wellington Utah.
Born to John C. Randall and Evaline Hartley Randall. His mother died shorty after his brother was born, leaving 6 week old Dan and 6 year old John. John and Dan were taken by their mothers brother Lawrence Hartley and his wife Lylas Henry Hartley, to Delta Colorado and raised them as their own.
After growing up together in Delta ,John married his one true love Evelyn( Evie) Allen June 26 1957 in Montrose ,Colorado.
Right out of High School he joined the Air Force. He was a dog handler and trainer. Helping to train some of the first drug detection dogs. He had a tour in Vietnam in 1967 1968. He was
there for the Tet Offensive.
F.E. Warren was his last base in his Air Force career and retired in June 1977. John then worked for both Halladays Motors and Tyrells as service advisor.
His working life finished at Little America Hotel. He was in the maintenance department, where he traveled to all the Little America properties laying carpet.He loved the Holding family and all the many friends he made in the coworkers. He retired from there in 2005 after 17 years.
John was an accomplished woodworker and loved working with his hands. He loved gardening and landscaping. He built two ponds filled with waterlilys and fish. Both had waterfalls. His hunting in his later years involved hunting with a camera. He loved the outdoors of Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah.
John is survived by Evie, his wife of 63 years and their children Randy Randall, Suzette Randall, and Diana Randall ( Jerry Nelson). Eight grandchildren Tara, Lyndsy, Desi, Cheyenne, John, James, Heather and Renae. Nine great grandchildren Alexius, Roque, David, Audrina, Paisley, Kenzie, Braylee, Eros and Kato. Also surviving is brother Dan Hartley of Worland, Wyoming step sisters Denise Barrett of South Jordan and Mary Murray of Standwood, Washington.
Proceded in death is his oldest daughter Lynn Ann Randall Williams and her son, grandson John Wallace Williams both lost in the flood in Cheyenne in 1985. His parents, adopted parents, and his very close mother in law Edna Overman.
Loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend. John was a gentle person, he did have a fierce determination and inner strength. He fought Parkinson’s with every resource he could
find.
The ones you love are life's most precious gifts.
Maybe they are not really stars in the sky, but rather openings. Where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
