John J. Quinn Jr., 83, passed away peacefully at Cheyenne’s VA Medical Center on July 3, 2024. He was born on May 29, 1941, in Needham, Massachusetts to John and Margaret Quinn. John proudly served his country in the military, originally with the army then with the air force. He met his wife Charlett on a blind date which quickly spiraled in to 59 years of marriage and a proud father of two children.
His career choice led him to serve in Vietnam, Puerto Rico, Misawa, Japan, Cape Romanzof, Alaska, Reykjavik, Iceland and Cheyenne, Wyoming where he eventually retired. John was a quiet soul who loved all animals, working in his garage, bowling, doing yardwork, traveling with Charlett, and spending time with his dog. Although he was fortunate enough to have traveled and vacationed in many different parts of the world, his all-time favorite place was just being at home. His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren.
John is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Charlett, daughter Sharon O’Donnell of Cheyenne, Son John III (Jackie) Quinn of Tennessee. Brothers: James Quinn of Fairfax, Va, Robert Quinn of St. Petersburg Fl, Thomas Quinn of Cape May, New Jersey, sister Jane Quinn of Waltham, Massachusetts and grandchildren: Evan O’Donnell, Callie O’Donnell , Kate Quinn and Kevin Vose. His many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Annie. Those who greeted him at heaven’s door were his parents, brother Kevin, and sister Judith.
Service will be on July 18 at 11 am at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment to follow at Cheyenne National Veterans Cemetery with military honors at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cheyenne Hospice/Palliative Care Unit at the VA Memorial Center in Cheyenne.
