John Franklin Cuccia, Jr., 55, of Cheyenne, passed away on December 16, 2016 at his home.
John was born September 4, 1961 in Raton, New Mexico. He loved spending time on his families land in Trinidad, in the mountains, fishing and skiing. John also loved riding motorcycles and music, he really enjoyed attending concerts. He was grateful for anytime he got to spend with family and friends, especially his wife, sons and great friend Craig Allan who was always there for him. John mostly loved being outside and just the feeling of the sun shining down on him.
In 1990, John suffered a spinal cord injury and has lived the last 26 years as a quadriplegic. While he had many ups and downs with his heath, he was always strong and wanted to prove medical professionals wrong. Many people commented that he was like a cat and had nine lives, because it seemed no matter what complication was in his way he was too stubborn to let it get the best of him. John married Sandra August 20, 1990 and she has been by his side ever since. Prior to his injury he worked for the railroad and then worked industrial construction as a pipefitter and welder. In spite of everything he lived life to it’s fullest and always said he felt blessed as many people had it worse than him.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Cuccia Sr., and Barbara Garner Tretter.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra and two sons, Jacob Cuccia and Jeremiah (Holly) Cuccia. He is also survived by his stepmom, Antoinette Cuccia and his five siblings, Jeff (Connie) Cuccia, Heather Pfalmer, Michele (Joe) Santistevan, Ty Cuccia, and Debbie (Jay) Schiessler. He is survived by 3 grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
John always said he wanted Stairway to Heaven and Sympathy for the Devil to be played at his funeral so he would be covered either way.
Services will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
