Joan Emma Selby, 63, died March 8, 2018 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. She was born April 6, 1954 in Thermopolis, Wyoming to Keith and Deloris Selby. At the time of her death, she was employed as a Direct Service Provider at Bridges of Wyoming.
She attended Cheyenne East High School, then relocated with her family to Tripoli, Libya where her father was employed. She graduated from Zaragosa DoDDS High School in Spain. Joan was president of the Zaragosa reunion committee and maintained many lifelong friendships.
Her hobbies included travel, sewing, crafting, gardening, reading and cooking. Joan loved cats and rescued many over the years. She collected Raggedy Ann and Andy items and had an extensive music collection.
After the deaths of her sisters, Mary Selby and Susan Brooksmith, Joan became guardian of their young children, Julie and Lisa. Her great-nieces and great-nephews came to know her as “grandma”. A great-great niece joined the family in 2017.
Joan is survived by a brother Jack (Becky) Selby, nieces Kylee Selby Brandt, Julie Selby and Abramelyn Darqueness (formerly Lisa Selby), her great nieces and nephews, two aunts and many cousins. Preceding Joan in death were her parents, grandparents, sisters, an uncle, a nephew and great nephew.
A Life Commemoration Service will be Saturday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. A reception will follow at the Gathering Place. Cremation has taken place with burial at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
