She was born to George and Clara Joecks on March 27, 1940, in Jackson, Wyoming, but had lived most of her life in Cheyenne. She was a lover of children and dedicated her life to caring for her own. She actively participated in Girl Scouts for many years. Joan was also a lover of animals and spent several years volunteering for the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, and dreamed of opening her own animal rescue.
She is survived by her children Lorraine (Lori) Grant, Alex Casner, (Billie Waston), Marc Casner (Angel), all of Cheyenne, WY; Torrene (Ryan) Ketchum of Bismarck, IL; brother Jack Joecks of Gurnsey, WY; sisters Nancy Gerhardt of Mandan, ND; Rosemary Wilson of Big Lake, AK; Nicoal (Babe) Schad of Casper, WY; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Mika.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Casner, her parents, sister Mary Mclver, and good friend Kaye Willcuts.
A reception will be held at Terry Bison Ranch at 51east I-25 Service Road, Cheyenne, WY 82007.
