Jenny Rooney, 68, of Cheyenne Wyoming, passed peacefully surrounded by family at UC Health Poudre Valley Hospital after a sudden and unexpected battle with stomach cancer.
Jenny was born Jennifer Lynn Jablonowski on April 15, 1956 to Albert and Marian Jablonowski. Jenny grew up in Michigan, graduating from West Bloomfield High School, the Mercy School of Practical Nursing in Cadillac, Michigan, and Siena Heights University. In 1980 she met her best friend and the love of her life, William James Rooney. Jenny and Will were married November 27, 1980.
Jenny will be remembered for her determination, can-do spirit and caretaking heart. As a nurse for over 40 years, Jenny cared for thousands of patients across many disciplines, all while raising her beloved children and caring for her parents and Will’s parents as they aged. Jenny also loved to care for animals, forming a special bond with every dog and cat she encountered. Jenny enjoyed gardening, trips to the casino with Will, attending real estate open houses, and reality shows on TLC. When Jenny was blessed with grandchildren, Jenny and Will decided to move across the country to Cheyenne, Wyoming to be closer to them and to be a part of their daily lives. Nothing brought Jenny more joy than spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She will be dearly missed by her husband Will, son Tom (Courtney) Rooney, daughter Megan Rooney (Todd Waters), son Sean (Sarah) Rooney, grandchildren Michael (Caitlyn) Breedlove, Trenton Rooney, Patrick Rooney, Owen Rooney, Lily Rooney, London Morgan, Taylor Morgan, and Tripp Lingelbach, great-grandchildren Eleanor Breedlove, Eliza Breedlove, and Ozzy Breedlove, siblings Phil Jablonowski, Matt (Lori) Jablonowski, Jayne Jablonowski (Doug Glaid), and Maryann (Pat) Hermes, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. A reception will be held at The Gathering Place immediately following the service. A celebration of life is planned for the spring in Jackson, Michigan, where Jenny will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Animal Care League (animalcareleague.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org), two organizations that Jenny felt passionate about and supported herself.
