Jeffrey Van Dorn, 50, of Cheyenne passed away peacefully at home, under the care of Davis Hospice, after battling cancer since 2016. Jeff spent 24 years working for the Wyoming Department of Transportation, enjoying the work, and the challenges of the workplace.
Jeff loved all things Wyoming, his dogs, and social time with friends. We were never sure where family fit in. Jeff very much enjoyed sharp wit and snappy retorts.
Talking politics was fertile ground for his humor, wit and sarcasm.
As hobbies, Jeff enjoyed shooting at the range, woodworking, and home remodeling projects - and tools. He was a world traveler, having completed Old Chicago’s World Beer Tour many times.
He will be missed by family and friends. Though Jeff wished for privacy during his battle with cancer, he wanted all those who worried and cared for him to know how much he appreciated and loved them all.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Jeanette; siblings, Thomas Van Dorn, Raymond Van Dorn, Janice Van Dorn, Steven Van Dorn, Richard (Kathleen) Van Dorn, Jennifer (Dick Tomasco) Van Dorn, Jill (Ron) Kline, Linda Van Dorn and Larry (Christine) Van Dorn; sister-in-law, Terry Van Dorn; numerous nieces and nephews and his dog, Holly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Van Dorn; brother, James Van Dorn and sister-in-law, Sherrie Van Dorn.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Interment of his urn will take place at Olivet Cemetery.
