Jeanne P Wright (Nana) age 90 of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming passed at Davis Hospice Cheyenne, Wyoming on February 28,2024, surrounded by loving family and friends in her final days and hours.
Jeanne is survived by her daughter Tracey Merrick and husband Kelly, grandchildren Kelsey Cotton ( Cody), Quinn Merrick (Kinlee), Chase Merrick (Montanna), and Logan Merrick. As well as four great-grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Sydney and Nellie Haywood and husband Kenneth L Wright.
Jeanne was born in Essex England to Sydney and Nellie Haywood on February 18,1934. At the age of 6 when the WWll bombings of London began, she was evacuated to the countryside. Jeanne attended boarding school until the end of the war and then returned to her parents in London. While completing her upper levels of school she trained as a ballroom dancer, competing and winning many awards and medals. Dance remained her passion throughout her life, and she participated and taught until her last days. Jeanne graduated from business college in England and worked at the London Stock Exchange before moving to Paris.
She immigrated to the United States and lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Several years later she became a US citizen stating that it was one of her proudest moments. She met and married her husband of 45 years Kenneth L Wright and soon had their only daughter. They resided in Falcon, Colorado until moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1978. With Kenneth running operations and Jeanne selling real estate as well as managing the business side of their construction company the two were able to retire early enjoying summers in Cheyenne and winters in Texas. When Jeanne wasn't playing cards, teaching dance, or traveling she was reading a book. After her husband passed, she took up residence in a house on the family ranch west of Cheyenne. In 2010 Jeanne and her daughter's family moved their operation to Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. We were blessed to have her reside in her home on the ranch and be a daily part of our lives.
Her greatest happiness came while spending time with her family, cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their sports and activities or helping entertain at the ranch. She was Nana to her family and became Nana to all of our friends which brought her such love
.
Jeanne was an amazing woman and role model who lived a life of adventure, joy, discipline and gratitude. I am truly blessed to have had her as my loving mom, guide through this world and best friend.
Her Legacy is etched on our hearts and minds and will be celebrated and continued through the family who adored her.
A private service for family will be held when the birds sing, the sun shines, and the flowers bloom in the place she loved best.
By the Grace of God and the care and kindness of the angels at Davis Hospice we were gifted with precious time and are truly thankful. In lieu of flowers please send donations to: Davis Hospice of Cheyenne
