Heaven gained the sweetest Angel on June 28, 2019. Jane Craig, age 84, set off in flight safe into the arms of the Lord. Just 10 days prior to her “Promotion to Glory,” she was unexpectedly diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Determined to fight until her final breath, she surrendered her spirit surrounded by the love of family at Davis Hospice in Cheyenne, WY.
Born to Laird and Nellie Smith in Ravanna, MO, Jane was the youngest of four children. A farm girl at heart, she loved the outdoors and often escaped on walks with Mother Nature and adored animals of all kind. Her green thumbs led her into the garden where she thrived on growing a plethora of flowers, vegetables and fruits. The magic in her cooking was revered across the country and in the kitchen was where you would usually find her. She was a busy-bee always serving others. When she did get “me” time, she also enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, puzzle books, coloring, and playing games. But, her biggest joy in life was undoubtedly her family.
Jane will be remembered for her incomparable heart of gold. Her devotion to her faith and morals was unparalleled. She dated only one boy her entire life and was married to him for 66 years - a true love story. Jane and Wilbur met in a soda shop and later in life owned their own old-fashioned soda fountain called Dirty Sally’s in Ten Sleep, WY. They built and lived in their dream log home in Dubois until Jane missed sunshine and off to St. George, UT they went. Longing for family brought them back to retire in Wyoming.
Jane is survived by her spouse, Wilbur Craig; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Susi Craig; daughter, Teresa Gard; daughter and son-in-law, Tonia and David Harvey; grandchildren, Jeremy and Angela Craig, Lexi and Tim Leckemby, Jessica and Jerry Lira, Shondra and Nick Madden; great-grandchildren, Markus, Janie, Isabelle, Autumn, Jordan, Mya, Keaton, Phoenix and Charleigh.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10am at Hillsdale United Methodist Church with Pastor Gale Graves officiating. Burial will follow at Hillsdale Church Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 4-7p on Friday, July 5 at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel for viewing.
Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
“Many daughters have done nobly,
But you excel them all.”
