James W. "Jim" Weppner

September 22, 1943 — September 12, 2019

James “Jim” Weppner, 75, of Cheyenne, died on September 12, 2019, at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, as a result of a severe stroke. He passed peacefully surrounded by his three girls.
He was born on September 22, 1943 in Cheyenne.
Mr. Weppner was a real estate appraiser and the founder of Century 21 Bell Real Estate 41 years ago. Jim was an avid reader, a master of crossword puzzles, loved to travel, hunt, fish, and aside from his love for his family, he loved fast boats and cars. He especially enjoyed traveling back and forth to their Lake Havasu City home.
Jim was a US Navy veteran proudly serving on the USS Pyro during the Vietnam War era.
Jim was a CFD volunteer for over 50 years and was presently a member of the CFD Public Relations committee, a member of the CFD Heels where he was just designated as a “silver” Heel, and a member of the Old West Museum Western Art Show Committee. He was a member of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce and the MAC Committee. He was a former member of Kiwanis, the Laramie County Planning Commission, Cheyenne Board of Realtors, Cheyenne Jaycees, Miss Wyoming Pageant Director, and numerous other community organizations.
Jim is survived by his wife, Linda Weppner; two daughters, Jodi Weppner (Eric Davis) and Tracy Wilson (Cody); four grandchildren, Dakota Wilson (Natalie), Chyann Todd (Brandon), Lance Davis, and Taryn Davis; two siblings, Edward Weppner (Mary) and Ann Jagow, plus several nieces and nephews. His family also included many “adopted sons and daughters” that called him “Pa.” The twinkle in his eye and his little smirk will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Virginia Woods Weppner, daughter of Hugh M. Woods.
Vigil for the Deceased will be Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Funeral Liturgy will be Thursday, 1:30 p.m., at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
