James L. Shelden, 79, of Cheyenne, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Davis Hospice Center.
He was born October 18, 1935 in Hooker, Missouri, a son of Lewis and Nellie (George) Shelden. Jim attended schools in Missouri, graduating from Dixon High School. He joined the U.S. Army following graduation and moved to Cheyenne in 1959. He was employed with WyDOT until his retirement.
Jim married Carol and together they had two children. She passed away on February 10, 2006 in Cheyenne. Jim was married to Phyllis Sartnurak on January 27, 2007 in Cheyenne.
He was a deacon at the Vineyard Church and a member of the Antique Tractor Association.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Cheyenne; a son, Dale Shelden of Casper; a daughter, Joy Dawn Shelden of Santa Fe, New Mexico; step-son, Roger Stevens of Meridian, Idaho; step-daughter, Lisa Wordeman of Cheyenne; two brothers, Gary and Ed Shelden both of St. Robert, Missouri; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; his parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30th at 2:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
