James C. Lemp, 93, of Cheyenne, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 6, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri a son of Clarence and Katherine (Harvey) Lemp. He married Margaret Menendez in 1942 in Missouri. They moved to Cheyenne in 1945 when Jim took a job with the UP Railroad as a Conductor. He was employed with the railroad for 43 years retiring in 1988.
In 1956, Jim and Margaret became actively involved in both Babe Ruth and Little League Baseball. In 2006, Jim was inducted into the Babe Ruth Hall of Fame. He also belonged to the Knights of Pythias.
Survivors include a daughter, Marianne (Michael) Mansfield of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Robert Lemp of Cheyenne; Morgan Lemp of Denver; Danielle Mansfield of Cheyenne; Eddie Moore of Cheyenne and a nephew, Bob Reagan of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; parents; a son, Jimmy Lemp, Jr.; a daughter, Carol Moore; brother, Clarence Lemp; and sisters, Nancy and Mary.
Funeral Liturgy will be Friday, February 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
