James Patrick Johns, 42, unexpectedly died on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. He was born in Cheyenne on October 24 to Connie and Jim Johns and thoroughly enjoyed his youth having fun with friends in the neighborhood of Buffalo Ridge. He attended Anderson Elementary and East High Schools, Carroll College in Helena, Montana, LCCC, and the University of Wyoming. He was an avid baseball player and advanced from Little League to American Legion baseball. He was especially proud of being a team member of Post 6. In the fifth grade he learned to play the saxophone and was a member of East High’s marching band.
After growing up in Cheyenne, he lived and worked on both U.S. coasts and spent a number of years in the Portland, Oregon area. Throughout his life, Jimmy was fortunate to have many supportive family members and caring friends. A dear friend from Portland recently wrote: “He was full of laughter and wit, and his knowledge of music was incredible. I will miss him and his beautiful, pure and sensitive soul.”
For friends in Cheyenne, please honor Jimmy by striving to create PEACE and KINDNESS. Thank you.
Private services in Portland and Cheyenne have been held. His Mother and Dad will honor his life and memory by continuing to contribute to the community of Cheyenne.
