James “Jimmie” R. Borkowitz went home to be with the Lord November 2, 2016 at the Florida Hospital Memorial Center, Ormond Beach, FL.
Jimmie was born June 18, 1932, to the late James Aloysius Borkowitz and Harriette Galloway, Coward, SC. He was married to the late Carol Jean Borkowitz.
He is survived by one son, James Clifford Borkowitz, Pittsburg, CA; three sisters, Rachel B. Turner (Carlton), Effingham, SC, Margaret B. Clark, Port Orange, FL and Marie B. Stalvey, Timmonsville, SC.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Borkowitz and a brother, Frank Borkowitz.
Jimmie graduated from Lake City High School, South Carolina, in 1950 and was Senior Class President, later attending Berry College in Georgia.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Cheyenne for 40 years. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and the Cross Walk Church in Daytona Beach, FL.
For the last three years he lived with his sister, Margaret Clark in Port Orange.
Services will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
