James Flournoy, 73, of Cheyenne, died on Thursday, August 28, 2014.
He was born on October 7, 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mr. Flournoy served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 30 years from July 19, 1960 to 1999. He retired as a W4 Warrant Officer. When asked about his time spent in the Coast Guard, his reply was always, “best paid vacation anyone could have.” He was stationed in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Texas, Louisiana, New York, Alaska, and Singapore.
James was a man of few words. He was blessed with the ability to solve problems with great wit. He was very meticulous in everything he did. His passion was reading, and he enjoyed yard work, sports, and hobby trains. His downfall was cigarettes – Don’t Smoke!
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Flournoy, whom he married on June 25, 1966 in Douglas, Georgia.
