James Delma Fails, 81, of Cheyenne, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the VA Medical Center.
James, known to family and friends as “Jimmy”, was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 28, 1934. Jimmy attended Catholic School until joining the United States Air Force where he continued his education while working in food service. The Military led him abroad to many places, including Germany. James served during the Vietnam War. After 23 years of service to our country, he retired at F.E. Warren Air Force Base as a food service supervisor. The following 18 years he worked for the State of Wyoming as a Nutrition Coordinator.
Jimmy’s years dedicated to food service fostered a passion for cooking and his culinary creativity was well known among family and friends. If he was not in the kitchen he was most often found at the golf course or the bowling alley.
James was a member of Sun Valley Baptist Church, attending services regularly.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Eva Fails; daughter, LaRenda Saddler; son, A.J. (Rene) Fails; eight grandchildren, Keyonia Lawson; Janelle (Jeff) Harlan; Erin (Charles) Richardson; Jurri Saddler Jr., Rashad Williams, Matthew Fails, Neva (Adam) Bartholomew; Vanita Saddler; five great-grandchildren; and a niece, Adrian Prince.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte and Cledy Fails; four siblings and a daughter, Jeannine Fails-Sirois.
Services will be held Friday, July 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sun Valley Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
