John L. “Jack” Conroy, 82, passed away at home on January 22, 2017.
He was born June 24, 1934 to John P. and Florence Powell Conroy in Friend, Nebraska. Jack married Myrtle Brain on December 4, 1954 in Cheyenne.
Jack was employed for the U.P. Railroad in the B and B Division and retired after twenty years. He became maintenance Supervisor at the Wyoming National Guard. Jack drove bus for Cheyenne Charters, made trips to Black Hawk and Central City. One trip to the retreat of the Rockies, he was so impressed that when he saw an ad for a manager, he and Myrtle applied and ran the Retreat for three years. Upon returning to town he worked for the Redwood Package Liquor Store.
In 2007, Jack went blind and has been homebound ever since.
He is survived by his wife and Children, Deb (Jim) Thomas; Jacquelyn (Tim) Miller; Cristy (Randy) Bigelow; Tom (Becky) Conroy; Betty Conroy; all of Cheyenne; Kim (Greg) Gonzales, Hudson, CO; Scott (Deanne) Conroy, York, PA; Rebecka (Jon) Richard, Firestone, CO; twenty two grandchildren and twenty nine great grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael P. Conroy and Kelly N. Conroy and his sister, Margaret Pennington.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Harriman Retreat Center, 54 Road 102 Harriman, Wyoming. Directions: Take I-80 West to Laramie, Exit at Harriman, Left at Stop sign following Road 102 until you reach the Retreat.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
