Israel T. Holomon, passed away April 12, 2018, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Cheyenne.
He was born June 12, 1930, in Waverly, VA to Israel L. Holomon and Bertha B. Taylor.
Israel entered the United States Air Force on September 15, 1947. He met Ruby B. Givens of Alamogordo, New Mexico, while stationed at Holloman AFB, New Mexico. After a tour of duty in Korea, he returned to Alamogordo, and married Ruby in 1952. His tours of duty included Wright Patterson AFB Ohio; Loring AFB Maine; Langley AFB Virginia; Paris - Orly Air Base France; and Sculthorpe, England.
They moved to Cheyenne in 1961, and was stationed at F.E. Warren AFB, 90th Missile Maintenance Squadron. After 20 years of honorable service, he retired in 1967. During the next chapter of his life, he was a driver for the first Bookmobile in Cheyenne, and then later was a school bus driver for Laramie County School District #1. While working for the school district, he started H&S Landscaping Service where he was the sole proprietor for over 20 years. He is responsible for much of the beautiful trees and landscaping in Cheyenne. Israel enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his yard and garden.
Israel is survived by his wife, Ruby; three children, David T. Holomon of Seattle, WA, Brenda J. Cochran of San Antonio, TX, Jeffery W. (Arlene) Holomon of Cheyenne, WY; one grandson, Jalani H. Cochran (Angela), and one great granddaughter, Alana of Houston, TX.
Israel was preceded in death by their son, Stephen; his parents and sister, Gloria D. Brooks, of Waverly, VA.
Services 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment to follow at Beth El Cemetery.
