Our loving, sweet, and caring Israel “Izzy” Alejandro Chacon, 27, of Cheyenne, was called to go home with the Lord on August 29, 2021. He was born to Manuel (Alonso) Chacon of Temosachic, Chihuahua, and Mary (Frances) Chacon of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Israel was the baby of the family and captured all the hearts of everyone who loved him. Israel was raised in a loving home with both his parents, his brother, and his sister. On the outside- Israel looked like he had it all; intelligence, confidence, beautiful eyes, great smile, and the ability to engage in genuine conversation with everyone he met. However, on the inside Israel was sensitive and had struggles he hid well from the world and faced alone.
We loved Israel with all our hearts, but we now know that was not enough to save him from the evils of the world. This obituary is not an attempt to assign blame for Israel’s death, it’s not to vent our anger or frustration in a world where drugs have become an epidemic, and can be found at every corner. Instead, we write this obituary in hope that it may provide insight and a light for those lost in the dark struggles of addiction. Israel excelled in everything he did from academics, to sports, to sharing and preaching the word of God. Israel was just an overall compassionate and caring individual. With seemingly endless positive traits. Israel had the potential to be anything he wanted to be in this life, but drugs slowly began to creep into Israel’s life following his graduation from High School. Although Israel had a loving family and supportive friends -he could never be completely honest about the internal battles he was facing. Israel successfully completed drug rehab several times, but the cravings that came from his addiction were eventually shown to be more than he could overcome.
While we always felt Israel had a grasp on his battles, his ability to hide and disguise his addiction proved superior. What was once the feeling of worry watching Israel struggle, has now been replaced by a deep feeling of loss knowing we will never see his beautiful eyes and smiling face again. The only peace we have known is knowing that his strong faith and belief in the Lord has guided Israel to his new home in Heaven. To everyone struggling with an addiction, this is a simple reminder that there are so many people who love you with everything they have and all they do. Please do not feel too afraid/ashamed or scared to ask for help, because even when people on the outside seem calm, the water can be turbulent beneath, and no one can help unless you ask. So please ask for help from all the people that love you. Israel’s struggles have ended, and he is finally at peace.
Israel is survived by his loving parents, Manual Alonso (Mary Frances) Chacon; his sister, Isela (Brendon); brother, Orlando (Vanessa); nephews, Michael Jr and Malaki DeHerrera; nieces, Zavianna Chacon and Briella Bounds; grandparents, Joe (Sheri) Duran and Rachel Suarez, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Israel was preceded in death by his brother, Alonso Chacon; grandparents, Jose Adan (Josephina) Chacon; and his uncles, Jose Adan Chacon and Jesus Chacon.
