Irene Knittle, 91, of Cheyenne, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Davis Hospice Center.
She was born October 11, 1923 in Eureka, South Dakota, a daughter of Jake and Lea (Straub) Weible. She moved at a young age with her family to Lusk, Wyoming where she received her schooling. She moved to Cheyenne in 1945 and on January 3, 1946 was married to Albert Knittle, he passed away on October 19, 1993.
Irene was employed with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for over 21 years.
Irene enjoyed cooking and was thought to be the best cook around by her family. She loved being a Grandma and was known to both her family and friends as Grandma. She enjoyed spending time with her precious dogs and she also liked penguins.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Knittle of Cheyenne; Carol (Chuck) Tafoya of Cheyenne; three grandchildren, Kim and Jason Tafoya, both of Cheyenne; Krista (Jeremy) Cotton of Colorado Springs, CO; and two great grandchildren, Brayden and Parker Cotton, both of Colorado Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, Otto Weible.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Davis Hospice Center in Irene’s name.
Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
