Heide K. Dorsett died on October 14th at Davis Hospice after a very courageous battle with
cancer.
Born March 12, 1942 in Berlin, Germany to Georg & Kathe (Birkner) Buchholz. She was raised in Berlin solely by her mother and grandmother, Erna Birkner, until 1956 when her father returned from Russia where he was a POW for 10 years. They continued to live together as a family in Berlin until 1967 when Heide moved permanently to the U.S.A.
On July 3, 1969 Heide married Earl Dorsett in Casper then moved to Cheyenne in 1970. In 1973 she became a U.S. citizen. In 1975 her parents moved to Cheyenne from Germany.
Heide earned two Bachelor of Art degrees and a Master of Arts from the University of Wyoming. She taught German to University of Wyoming Freshman, LCCC evening students and worked
for LCSD#1 for 19 years, teaching German at both Carey and McCormick Junior High schools.
Heide was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, friend & teacher. She took great pride and joy in her home, gardening, teaching about the German language and culture to her students, cooking/baking for her family, her dogs, & doting on her children & grandchildren.
Heide was proceeded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Earl of Cheyenne; daughters, Tina Walrath (Josh) of Laramie, Stefanie Coomes, of Cheyenne; and her beloved grandsons, Mindoe & Tai Walrath, and Colorado Coomes.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 21st at 2:00pm at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with private burial at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens to follow.
