Hazel I. Lebsack

June 6, 1943 — April 14, 2018

Hazel I. Lebsack, 74, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland, Colorado from complications related to an autoimmune liver disease. In hospital and hospice care for six weeks prior to her death, Hazel died peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family.

Hazel leaves behind her beloved husband Larry, her loving children Lance Lebsack (Geraldine) and Jennifer Quinlivan (Kurt) and her cherished granddaughters Cristen Vigil, Jazmine Braunschweig (Joshua) and Cassidy Lebsack, as well as her sisters Sandra Maher, Shirley Spears (Ronald) and her dear brother Jeff Kelton (Shirley).

Born in Old Hickory, Tennessee June 6, 1943, where her father was a house painter and her mother an AT & T worker; Hazel spent her early years caring for her siblings, twirling batons for the marching band, keeping up with the latest in fashion trends and closely following the career of Elvis Presley. In the summer of 1965, she met the love of her life when he was stationed at Sewart Air Force Base. Hazel and Larry found each other at a friend’s barbeque and were married just six months later in October.

Before her passing, Hazel lived the majority of her years in Smyrna, Tennessee, Loveland, Colorado, Cheyenne, Wyoming and Kimball, Nebraska. While in Loveland she worked at Hewlett Packard, soldering some of the first computer processing chips. In Cheyenne, she was employed at the V.A. Medical Center as an Executive Assistant for Patient Care Services. Hazel retired from the V.A. Medical Center in 2005 but continued to work part-time jobs until 2013, because she could never sit still.

Hazel was an amateur songwriter, an admirer of babies, a lover of cuddly dogs, a beach devotee, especially if it had deep white sand, and a fan of Goo Goo Cluster candy bars. She worried, fretted and took care of her family and people she barely knew. She will be profoundly missed.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. As Hazel wished, there will be a private service at a later date.
