Major Harry Ornelas, Retired US Air Force, passed away on April 26, 2019 at age 94 surrounded by his family.
Harry was born in Worland, Wyoming on December 02, 1924 to Angel and Rosario Ornelas who preceded him in death. He served 30 years in the Air Force as Bombardier, Navigator and Sr. Pilot which included 55 missions in both the Korean War and Vietnam War. During his military career he traveled to many foreign countries, flying B-52s, B-25’s, and many others. After retirement from the Air Force, he worked at the Veterans Administration for 15 years and enjoyed a well-deserved retirement until his passing.
He was an avid runner and gym enthusiast throughout his life and enjoyed many outdoor activities, fishing, hunting, water skiing, camping and fun filled family trips with his wife and children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lois; his children, Harry Ornelas (Lynne), Roze Grant (Doug) and Viveca Ornelas (Kirk), grandsons, Cory Ornelas and Brandon Ornelas. Great grandchildren, Jaron, Eugene, Elizabeth and Viveca and his sisters, Frances, Jessie, Virginia and Urbana. He leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clemente, Magdaleno, Martin, Albert and Fr. Angel, and his beloved dog, Reina.
He was a loving husband and father and a gentle and thoughtful man. He was loved by many and inspired great respect from family and friends. Harry will be missed, but never forgotten.

Rosary will be at Friday, 5:00 pm at Wiederspahn Chapel, 1900 E. 19th St., Cheyenne, Wyoming. Memorial services will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Pine Bluffs Cemetery.
