Harriet R. Clark

September 18, 1926 — March 2, 2015

Harriet R. Clark, 88, died peacefully on March 2, 2015 at her home in Cheyenne, WY surrounded by her loving family. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Harriet was born September 18, 1926 in Brooklyn NY. She also lived in California and Oregon before moving to Cheyenne in 1978. Harriet received her RN degree from Kings County Nursing School in Brooklyn in 1947, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from Southern Oregon University. Harriet moved to Cheyenne becoming the director of the VA's Nursing Home unit. She retired from the Veterans' Administration in 1982 after 31 years of service in VA hospitals in Fresno CA, Roseburg OR, and Cheyenne WY. She was an active outdoorswoman, loved swimming, boating, hiking, fishing, reading and gardening. She mostly enjoyed camping trips with her family. After retirement, Harriet volunteered for many years at Meals on Wheels and the Cheyenne Botanic Garden. Harriet's beloved husband Morris Clark died in 1961. Survivors include her children; daughters Susan Hahn (Peter) of Saranac Lake, NY and Lynn Clark and Lynn's partner Dean Lankford of Cheyenne, and her son Jim Clark of Cheyenne WY. Harriet's grandchildren were with her in her final days: Michael Clark, (Cassy Stein), Alicia Watkins (Jarrett Lacombe), all of Cheyenne; William Hahn of Seattle WA, and Owen Hahn of Brooklyn NY. Harriet was the loving great-grandmother of Dakota and Micah Clark, Eko Cauwenberghs and Tenar Hahn. They spent many happy hours playing at grandma's house and will miss her greatly. Her family wishes to acknowledge the support and love provided by Harriet's friends: Ann O'Brien and families of Chad Morgan and Lucas Meadows. Memorial contributions can be made to Cheyenne Botanic Gardens or Cheyenne Meals on Wheels.
